search engine company YAHOO!”
Today I finally went to YAHOO headquarter
office. Unlike Google campus, YAHOO had a very calm and quiet atmosphere with
purple everywhere. Only visitors with employee’s guidance were able to take a
tour. Even though YAHOO have went through 8 layoffs in 8 years they were still
strong. Through the hard times employees who survived had stronger bindings to
each other. Not only is their relationship but also their food. An employee
from Google said YAHOO’s food is much better than theirs. (As Number of
employees increased in Google food quality went a little down.)
After Marissa Ann Mayer, whom previously
was the Vice President of Google Product Search until the end of 2010, became YAHOO’s
new CEO and corporate culture has been changed drastically. Still many people
use YAHOO in United States and I hope they will re-hop again and scream
‘YAHOO!’ one day. Depending on who the leader is, corporate culture is formed
in many different form. I realized how important the corporate culture is to
employees and to future employees.
