Lunch with Henry H. Wong

I send an email to one of the investors who I really wanted to meet. He said 'yes' and were able to have a lunch together. I have learned so many things. Especially by finding out he is so similar with me in his background and personality I didn't felt lonely as an entrepreneur and could gain more confidence.

And of course I want to share this moment with Handong Students I have made a note of what i have learned from our conversation.

Personal Questions:
1) What did you do when you were at my age (26)? Where is your energy coming from?
Problem statement or pain point, there is something that makes you ‘unhappy’. It’s the unhappiness where the opportunity lies and what provokes you to be happy. Try to be happy all the time.
Bible verse related to what Henry have said:
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4)
“Be joyful always, pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (Thessalonians 5:16~18)

2) Where is your tolerance for others coming from?
Tolerance=Empathy, patience. Like raising a child be patient to others. Do not scold. It’s a behavior to ‘ruin’ and ‘rebuild’ a person for my comfort which is a sin. Child is not my possession but a gift from God for just a temporary time. People should be taken care with love.
Bible verse related to what Henry have said:
“Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.” (1John 3:16)
“Those who have believing masters are not to show less respect for them because they are brothers. Instead, they are to serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers, and dear to them. These are the things you are to teach and urge on them.” (1Timonthy 6:2)

3) How do you tolerate the difference and wrong doings from others?
Like the last words in the movie <Gone with the wind> “I don’t give a damn care.” I don’t care about other guys talking something nonconstructive. I do care about well-being of other people but I have a golden plate inside me which shields my thoughts and mind. I do accept constructive criticism but not small talks.

4) What books do you read?
It’s better to walk 1000 thousand miles than to read 1000 thousand books. There is many good opportunities around SF bay area spend every day to meet up people. But to recommend you a book I recommend <The Art of the Start 2.0>.

Business Insights:
1) Collect 2 million uniques (visitors) a month. Prove you have attraction. If you are making a dog food show me dogs eating the food.

2) Level of neediness. What is your service like as of Air, Water and Caviar?
You always need Air
You need Cancer drug for survival
You can survive 5~7days without Water
You need Aspirin when you have headache
You don’t die without Caviar
You sometimes want Candy

3) When you talk about customer experience. That is not UX/UI or flow of business. It is something you cannot measure. Customer relationships. Emotions.

4) How to build a platform? How to push and pull both customers and retailers?
They have to find a clear value.

5) Screwdrivers to unlock the doors to business:
MBO: Management by objective. Clear objective. Begin end in mind. Concentrate on what to win. (While talking about band music.)
KPI: Key performance Index. Measure your performance for a year. (ex. Customers)

6) Need a leading product that will give WOW to the customers.
